Architect (High-End Residential) - Design-Technology Studio (Remote)

We’re partnering with a rapidly scaling design-technology studio that is reinventing how residential and light commercial projects move from concept to permit.

By combining architectural experience with workflow automation, intelligent standards, and internal AI tools, the studio is delivering projects at a speed traditional firms simply can’t match.

If you’re tired of slow-moving firms and want a role where your architectural judgment and your operational creativity matter, you’ll thrive here.

About the Role

To support a major new client and an expanding pipeline, the studio is hiring an Architect who isn’t content with a conventional production or project management role. This position is intentionally hybrid:

• 40%: traditional design + permitting work
• 60%: developing internal tools, standards, and “accelerants” that drive speed and consistency

You’ll work on high-end residential projects while also shaping the systems, processes, and early-stage AI-powered tooling that will define how the studio operates at scale.

Location: United States (Remote-first, with occasional site visits across the US)
Type: Full-time, salaried
Compensation: $110,000–$150,000 + benefits
Licensure: Licensure required

What You’ll Be Doing

Direct Project Work (~40%)

  • Lead design and documentation for high-end single-family residential projects.

  • Produce permit-ready drawings and coordinate directly with structural, MEP, and external consultants.

  • Interpret and apply zoning, building, and local regulatory requirements.

  • Guide clients and collaborators through design decisions with clarity and speed.

  • Own project segments with autonomy—pushing work forward quickly and confidently.

Internal Tools, Standards & AI-Driven Workflows (~60%)

  • Create standards, templates, and libraries in Revit, SketchUp, or other design tools.

  • Develop internal “accelerants”: code analysis prompts, zoning decision trees, design lookbooks, detail libraries, etc.

  • Contribute to early AI-powered tools that improve drafting, QA, coordination, and client service.

  • Identify bottlenecks in the design-to-permit pipeline and propose system-level fixes.

  • Serve as a key partner to the founder in shaping how the studio scales from 1 → 10 → 20+ people.

This isn’t a back-of-house standards role—you’ll see the immediate impact of everything you build.

Who You Are

  • Licensed Architect in the US (bonus points for CA, NJ, OR, HI and FL licenses)

  • 5+ years of experience delivering high-end residential projects (typically $2M–$20M+).

  • Strong command of state and local code requirements and permitting workflows.

  • Skilled in Revit and/or SketchUp; Rhino or other tools are welcome if you can demonstrate their value.

  • Confident working independently and making decisions without micromanagement.

  • Thrive in fast-moving environments—comfortable iterating in real time with leadership.

  • Naturally systems-minded: you don’t just complete tasks; you refine the way tasks should be done.

  • Curious about technology and open to experimenting with new workflows (AI experience not required).

Why This Role Is Different…

  • Direct impact: You’re joining at a defining growth moment, with a major client projecting 100+ projects in the next year.

  • Two career tracks, one job: Keep designing while also building the operational foundation of a high-velocity studio.

  • Autonomy + speed: A startup environment where good ideas get implemented immediately.

  • Real growth runway: Early hires will directly shape design standards and team culture.

  • Remote-first flexibility: Work from anywhere, with focused visits to project sites as needed.

  • Not another slow traditional firm: This is architectural practice rethought for efficiency, clarity, and scale.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary: $110,000–$150,000 Depending on experience and location

  • Benefits: Health, dental, vision

  • Schedule: Full-time, flexible, remote-first

  • Future incentives: Profit-sharing possibilities as the company matures.
