We’re looking for a Designer to join our Pet Owner Product Team. This is an IC role that will be responsible for designing new experiences and features that will help increase pet owners’ awareness of pet insurance, educate them on the benefits and help them understand the value of Pumpkin’s products. This individual needs to have strong executional skills and design craft - especially when it comes to visual and UI design. They will be expected to work within established brand guidelines and styles but also define new ones, and need to be well versed in responsive and systematic design, with interaction design as a bonus.

This will be a hybrid position, with a requirement of 2 days a week in the New York City office.
What You'll Do:
Support the Design Lead on all design work for the Pet Owner product work
Participate in product design workshops, ideation sessions and critiques
Explore multiple design solutions based on problem statements, user stories and/or requirements, and work with the Design Lead to identify the best solution
Take ideas from sketch to design to prototype - working through all states, breakpoints, and interactions to ensure your solution meet the needs of users and the business
When needed, create documentation as needed and collaborate with engineers to ensure your designs are built as intended, and QA prior to testing or launching
Proactively maintain design files, component libraries, update guidelines, etc
What We're Looking For:
College degree (art or design program or from a design school)
2-4 years of relevant product design experience - in a startup or agency environment
Beautiful portfolio of applicable product design work (we're looking for a strong understanding of brand identity, composition, informational hierarchy)
Master of your craft with visual design - interaction and motion design a plus
Desire to grow your craft as a product designer
Keen sense of empathy and user-centered design approach
Bonus Points:
Motion design skills
User research/testing experience
Basic HTML knowledge or skills
Start-up experience
