The J. Robert and Barbara A. Hillier College of Architecture and Design (HCAD) at the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) seeks candidates for two full-time University Lecturer positions within the New Jersey School of Architecture (NJSOA). The positions emphasize a commitment to NJIT’s design-build tradition in Newark, involving teaching courses across the Bachelor and Master of Architecture programs and engaging in Newark-focused civic projects through HCAD’s Newark Design Collaborative (NDC).
Position Responsibilities:The successful candidates will teach all levels of architectural design studios and courses in design-build topics, including construction, materials, sustainability, and digital fabrication. Courses are structured around integrated design, using a shared syllabus. Candidates must demonstrate a passion for creating design interventions for the public realm and contribute to NJIT’s “Innovation Nexus” initiative, which fosters an engaged community.
Qualifications:We seek candidates with a strong emphasis on design-build studio pedagogy and experience leading projects in construction and architectural design. Applicants should have a demonstrated ability to integrate making and teaching practices, collaborate with external stakeholders, and engage with local community groups and public agencies. A record of teaching excellence, a terminal degree in Architecture (e.g., B.Arch, M.Arch), and at least three years of professional experience in architectural design are preferred.
