Retail Store Designer - Amazon Fresh (Seattle, WA)

DESCRIPTION

Industrial Design Implementation Engineering (IDIE) is seeking an experienced Sr. Industrial Designer to join the Design Engineering team. Our team works on pilot building projects for Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh Fulfillment and Distribution Centers. We also provide support for existing network grocery projects. This individual will be responsible for creating and maintaining designs for buildings under the above business lines. This includes end to end design support for buildings from concept to execution, engineering existing sites for value and efficiency, and creating and maintaining drawing standards for multiple business lines. Drawings will require a high level of detail using various CAD programs. A successful candidate will be able to collaborate with internal and external teams to generate high quality, cost effective solutions with ambiguous guidelines. They will also be able work on multiple projects with various timelines while influencing, negotiating, and communicating with internal and external business partners, contractors and vendors.

COMPENSATION

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $51,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $124,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Key job responsibilities

  • End to end design and industrial engineering support for buildings from concept creation to execution.

  • Partner with internal and external teams to streamline existing site layouts and workstations for value and efficiency.

  • Create design solutions that can scale and execute solutions with clear communication and documentation.

  • Maintain drawing standards for multiple business lines, and create them for new building types.

  • Create drawings with a high level of detail using various CAD programs as tools to communicate with internal and external teams.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field
• 5+ years of experience in the job offered or related occupation of Design/Innovation, Research & Development, Manufacturing/Process/ Industrial Engineering, or related.
• Experience in technical leadership for large-scale industrial engineering projects including industrial kitchens.
• Proficiency using business/technical software like MS Excel, Word, AutoCAD 2D/3D Software
•Intermediate knowledge of Revit


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's Degree or other advanced degree in Mechanical/Industrial/Process Engineering, Operations, Business Administration or related field
•Experience with grocery logistics, safety, and related automation around the food handling space
•Experience in production kitchens logistics, including knowledge of hot/cold kitchen equipment and their vendors, food production flow, and food safety requirement knowledge.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM360, and other Autodesk related software
•Operations Management/ Fulfillment/Distribution Center experience
•Capital project management skills
• Proficiency with concepts like system architecture, optimization, system dynamics, system analysis, statistical analysis, reliability analysis
• Ability to work independently in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment
• Ability to manage, influence, negotiate, and communicate with external business partners and internal teams to meet organizational needs.
