Loloi Rugsis seeking an experienced Textile Product Designer to join our dynamic, exciting team. The Product Designer position requires a minimum of 4 years of design experience in the textiles industry, and a minimum of 2 years of experience communicating with factories and customers is preferred.

This multi-tasking role requires excellent, demonstrated communication skills as well as proven organizational skills. The primary objective of this artistic, textile design role is to produce refined, resolved designs of area rugs, accent rugs, and scatter rugs, and to communicate directly with customers and factories in the execution of the product development process and the sampling process. In this role, the Product Designer will set up rug collections, approve production samples, as well as track and follow samples from the beginning stages to the final stages.

The Product Designer is a role that can execute design projects more independently, with confidence, and with minimal oversight. Design discernment combined with an understanding of floorcovering constructions, cost structures, and industry knowledge equips the Product Designer to begin to see how their decisions impact the business. Responsibilities to include:

  • Create multiple sizes of approved designs

  • Create multiple color stories of existing designs

  • Create new designs from translating existing artwork and photography

  • Create new designs based on design direction using Photoshop and NedGraphics

  • Travel to sales meetings, line reviews, and markets as needed

  • Communicate with factories to develop new products, constructions, and creels.

  • Communicate with internal and external customers

  • Execute design projects independently with minimal oversight

  • Ability to set up collections with factories

  • Foster positive morale and encourage a creative working environment

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in design/art-related field, (fine art, surface design, textile design, fashion design)

  • Photoshop experience required

  • NedGraphics experience preferred

  • Illustrator and InDesign experience preferred

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to take constructive criticism

  • Positive, optimistic demeanor

  • Minimum 4 years of textile design experience in the home furnishing field

  • Communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills are key strengths

  • PowerPoint proficient

  • Understanding of the home furnishings industry and key accounts

  • Understanding of trends in area and scatter rugs

  • Experience in digital prints, machine-made, handmade
