Role Description

The Senior Associate Scenic Designer is a contract, combination remote and on-site role based in the New York City Metropolitan Area. This role supports the development of scenic concepts from initial sketches to bid-ready designs, collaborating closely with the creative director, head designer, and production partners.

The Senior Associate Scenic Designer participates in design reviews, incorporates feedback, and helps ensure that scenic elements align with artistic vision, budget, and schedule. The role also involves occasional on-site visits to shops, theaters, and venues to review fabrication and installations.

Required Qualifications

  • Expert Vectorworks (2D and 3D) skills across all phases of design — concept, schematic, detail design, and bid-packet development, including liaising with selected fabricators through installation.

  • Commercial experience in location-based entertainment across temporary, permanent, and touring projects.

  • Working knowledge of lighting as it relates to scenic design, including collaboration with lighting designers.

  • Proficiency in SketchUp, Enscape, Adobe Creative Suite, and other digital rendering tools.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with experience working in multidisciplinary creative teams.

  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.

  • Preferred Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in scenic design, theater design, fine arts, or a related field — or equivalent professional experience.

    • Background in theatrical, live entertainment, experiential, or brand-focused environments.
