The Opportunity:

Store Development designs, builds, and maintains beautiful stores in some of the most coveted real estate in North America. We bring the physical expression of our brand to life by keeping client experience at the forefront of our decision-making processes and ensuring the success of our stores by managing cost, quality, and schedule.

Manager of Store Design Leads the design process for retail environments, ensuring they align with brand identity and business goals delivering on the promise of Sephora’s innovative retail experience. Collaborating with cross-functional partners, this position contributes to Sephora’s success by elevating the overall quality of store design to uphold the Sephora experience while meeting cost, schedule, and operational requirements. This position will manage both internal design teams and external consultants, overseeing projects from concept to completion. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable working through the complexities of problem solving for a unique site condition as they are with maintaining a relentless eye for the best overall design solution for any given project scope.

  • Coach, lead, engage, inspire, and develop a team of talented Store Designers. The primary function of this position is a people leader, however, will be expected to handle some project load. A willingness to roll up your sleeves and jump in where needed no matter how big or small the task is a must.

  • Coordinate closely with Real Estate, Retail Operations, Merchandising and Property Development, Execution, etc. throughout all stages of the design of our stores.

  • Knowledge and experience necessary to provide planning, interior elevations and storefront design studies based on our current Sephora design standards and specific site conditions, designing for unique conditions as required, and direct and coach the team through design challenges, layouts, and storefront design.

  • Facilitate and direct team efforts to develop project scope of work including review of codes, tenant criteria, merchandise requirements and any other design elements that may need to be incorporated into a project

  • Oversee quality control with the team and our 3rd party Architect companies to ensure all drawings meet Sephora design standards and criteria. Coordinate with consultant architects and engineers to incorporate any changes or corrections into the final contract documents. Ensure that drawings are accurate throughout the project

  • Expertise in design implementation, CD development, schedules, permitting, and interaction with LL or building officials. Be able to expertly and persuasively communicate Sephora brand Point of view to external partners.

  • Provide input and feedback to team developing store design tools: Template, design guidelines, ideal plans, high level gut checks, feasibilities, etc.

  • Contribute industry insights and fresh perspective to continually improve upon the delivery of on brand, beautiful, functional and cost-effective stores.

  • Expertly and independently be able to navigate and manage high profile and complex projects, including special projects such as time studies, template/prototype standards

  • Lead initiatives with cross-functional teams and external partners. Plan and align within Store Design Team and represent Store Design point of view.

  • Lead and develop process evolution as well as new process as necessary, based on best-in-class industry practices

    We’d love to hear from you if you have…

    • At least seven years of related experience in Retail Architecture, Retail Design or similar field.

    • At least five years of leading and/or managing high performing teams

    • Highly proficient in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office and Adobe Suite [In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator].

    • Experienced with one or more computer visualization tools [SketchUp, Adobe, Rhino, 3DS MAX].

    • Architectural Design Skills: Proficiency in designing retail spaces, including floor plans, elevations, and renderings.

    • Project Management Skills: Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

    • Communication and Collaboration Skills: Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.

    • Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, motivate and develop design teams.

    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit), CAD software, and construction documentation.

    • Knowledge of Retail Design Trends: Understanding of current retail design trends and best practices.

    • Budget Management Skills: Ability to manage project budgets effectively

    • Strategic agility and organizational savvy when maneuvering complex and ambiguous situations.

    • Problem Solve: Make sense of complex, high-quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems. Consider various inputs, criteria and tradeoffs to arrive at the best decision/recommendation.

    • Plan and prioritize work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.

    • High level of initiative and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Possesses a high level of curiosity and motivation. Actively seeks new ways to improve their craft. Embraces feedback and loves a challenge

    The annual base salary range for this position is$132,005.00 - $147,535.00The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, the applicant’s qualifications for the position; years of relevant experience; specific and unique skills; level of education attained; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. Individuals employed in this position may also be eligible to earn bonuses.
