Boston Dynamics is seeking a Staff Industrial Designer to help define and develop the visual design and usability of our robot platforms from concept through production. This is a position within a multidisciplinary design group devoted to defining and implementing high quality product experiences. Our products are highly complex, with competing technical requirements and multiple stakeholders. Within this R&D environment, our industrial designers work closely with the hardware teams, and are in constant collaboration with mechanical engineers. The work involves troubleshooting and compromise through a highly iterative design process. We are looking for someone who can translate these highly constrained problems with visually stunning solutions. We welcome applicants with demonstrated experience in performance soft goods, sneakers or sports equipment and an understanding of laminated / molded processes.How You Will Make An Impact
Provide iterative concept development, design refinement and production support
Support the industrial design leads and product teams
Collaborate with product managers, engineering, UX, and HRI research
Contribute to defining and evolving the visual form language of our products
Participate in user research to understand / evolve workflows and usability
We Are Looking For
BFA / BS in Industrial Design
Superb form development
Minimum 3 years of experience in an industrial design position
Enthusiasm to support an R&D environment
Proficiency in visual communication and related tools
