Job Description

The Design Manager will be responsible for all aspects of store design. He/she will be provide design support for all new stores, remodels, pop ups and special projects. Working closely with the development team including real estate, construction, visual merchandising and marketing, the Design Manager will collaborate with all parties to develop retail stores nationally and internationally.

What you'll get to do:

  • Develops initial test fit floor plans, facade design and signage concepts, and design detail drawings to convey design intent to AOR.

  • Works with all necessary internal departments including Real Estate, Construction, Visual Merchandising, Marketing and Operations to ensure the store design is in alignment with brand standards.

  • Works closely with VP of Development and Sr Design Manager to implement design vision and maintain brand and operational standards.

  • Creates presentation materials for design concepts in the form of plans, 3D renderings, hand sketches, inspiration boards, and material sample collections for presentation to Senior Management.

  • Manages external Architect of record and design teams across all phases of the project. (Due Diligence, SD, DD, CD and CA.)

Coordinates and manages permit expeditors in conjunction with AOR to ensure regulatory approvals meet schedules.

  • Manages / forecasts schedule of assigned pipeline projects and is responsible for updating the Development team weekly.

  • Reviews and approves architectural plans, elevations and relevant shop drawings to ensure design details are accurate and meet the brand standards.

  • Conducts weekly meetings with external consultants and internal cross functional teams.

  • Works closely with owner supplied vendors on design, shop drawings, purchase orders and schedules.

  • Negotiates and maintains design budget and contracts with consultants.

  • Actively researches current trends in global culture, retail design, architecture, fashion, art, etc.

  • Supports the development and maintenance of store design standards and prototype documentation.

  • Qualifications

    Who you are:

    • Bachelors Degree in Architecture or Interior Design or equivalent years of experience preferred.

    • 5+ years design experience (experience in house working for a global retail brand’s store design team a plus).

    • Excellent ability to articulate and sketch/detail design concepts for documentation and constructability.

    • Experience throughout the construction administration process

    • Superior organizational skills; ability to plan, prioritize, multi-task and manage projects independently.

    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    • Proficient in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, Sketchup, BlueBeam. Revit, Enscape, 3D Max experience a plus.

    • Must thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and work both independently and closely with others.

    The salary range for this role is $100,000 per year - $120,000 per year.
