Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Concept Design Manager to join our team! This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to work closely with the founding team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on its next stage of major growth. The ideal candidate is someone who is experienced in food service site development, is organized, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!).
Our Concept Design Manager will report directly to the Director of Store Development. While we are based out of Brooklyn, NY, this role has the opportunity to be completely remote or hybrid.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Design highly influential projects that impact the entire Van Leeuwen brand experience through schematic design, back of house operational layouts, seating & décor plans, and design development documents
Demonstrate current knowledge of industry trends in retail store and restaurant hospitality design including casework, detailing, furniture and finishes
Exhibit working knowledge of construction, detailing/assembly, construction process/administration, building and health codes, accessibility, compliance and management
Interface with Operations staff to determine project program needs and to develop and prioritize architectural and engineering scopes of work based upon these program requirements
Balance design, with operational needs, budget objectives and business drivers which result in exceptional and successful store environments
Review all schematic, design development and final construction drawings to ensure the company is building cost effective retail and outlet stores
JOB REQUIREMENTS
A passion for brand design & ice cream
A strong customer service attitude and willingness to work as part of a team
A desire to learn, grow, and develop professionally
At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role supporting design and/or construction activities; restaurant design experience preferred
Very strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask
Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Excel; experience with G Suite (Google Drive, Docs, etc.) is a plus
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Available to travel
A bachelor’s degree in architecture, interior design, or similar field
