Brand Designer, Contract - Operate (Remote)

We’re building Operate, a CRM designed for sales, built for founders.

Sales can feel like a black box (or a black hole). Traditional CRMs don’t help much — too many knobs, not enough clarity. Operate brings light, momentum, and joy to the messy, manual early-stage sales process. We’re crafting a beautiful product that founders actually want to use — fast, thoughtful, and built with taste.

We’re not building Yet Another Sales Tool™. We’re building a precision tool — smart defaults, fast workflows, and zero fluff.

Now we’re looking for a Brand Designer to join our small team and push the expectations of B2B SaaS audiences.

What you’ll do at Operate:

  • Collaborate directly with co-founders, Daniela Covarrubias (Creative Director) and Moe Amaya (CEO)

  • Design compelling visuals across web, social, email, and print—making even straightforward messages feel uniquely us

    • Think: eye-catching social posts, blog illustrations, emails, onboarding docs, and even a zine-style primer for founder sales

  • Explore different formats—from motion to interactive—to tell stories in fresh, compelling ways

  • Build scalable design systems and templates to maintain our craft and quality expectations

  • Champion brand consistency across all communication touchpoints, evolving our brand voice through design

  • Join a growing team of designers and engineers to help establish Operate’s brand as a leader and reference point for the industry

You’ll thrive here if you:

  • Have a strong portfolio showcasing work in brand, communication, or visual design

  • Can distill abstract ideas into simple, engaging visuals

  • Have a sharp eye for typography, layout, and visual storytelling

  • Feel comfortable working across different mediums, from static to interactive to motion (in execution and/or art direction)

  • Are self-directed and comfortable navigating ambiguous projects

It’s a bonus if:

  • You have experience with growth or community-led marketing

  • You have worked with print production and vendors

  • You’ve experienced the challenges of early-stage growth

Working at Operate

We’re remote-first and async. That means no meeting overload, no Slack chaos, and no performative management. We trust each other to do great work, hold a high bar, and communicate clearly.

Our team appreciates craft and quality across domains. Whether it’s food, music, art, or office supplies, we’re constantly searching for inspiration outside our day-to-day. A bit more about the team you’ll be working with:

Hiring Process

We aim to keep things clear, collaborative, and respectful of your time — no surprises, just meaningful conversations.

  • Tell us why you’re a great fit: Along with your portfolio and resume, send a short note explaining why you’re excited about Operate. Why do you care about founders, CRMs, and the sales process? What makes this role feel like the right next step for you? First impressions matter— we want to get a sense of who you are and what drives you.

  • Intro chat with Daniela (Co-founder & Creative Director): A casual conversation to get to know each other. We’ll talk about your experience, what you’re looking for, and what excites you. Come ready with questions—this is as much about you evaluating us as the other way around.

  • Founder conversation with Moe (CEO) & Dan (CTO): Meet the rest of the founding team. We’ll zoom out to discuss the bigger picture—our mission, how we work, and where we’re headed. This is a chance to feel out culture fit and alignment on values.

  • Offer stage: If it’s a match, we’ll move quickly to make an offer. We’re transparent throughout the process—there should be no surprises here. We’ll answer any remaining questions and make sure you have what you need to make a confident decision.

To apply, send an email with your portfolio/resume and a short note about why this role is a great fit to daniela@operate.so
