Friendly Futures is pioneering a new placemaking typology called Neighborhood Games: bespoke, site-specific, intergenerational games that transform communities into more joyful, connected places. Our work blends architecture, landscape architecture, public art, and game design to spark play and belonging in public space.


Role Description

Want to help design a friendlier world? We’re hiring a part-time, remote Interdisciplinary Designer with the potential to grow into a full-time role. You’ll collaborate with our Creative Directors and design team to dream up and build playful, experimental projects, from first sketches to Rhino models to polished presentations.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate on the design of Neighborhood Games (spatial, experiential, and rule-based design).

  • Model concepts in Rhino and prepare drawings, diagrams, and presentation materials.

  • Contribute fresh creative input to playful, community-focused design challenges.

  • Support visual storytelling across projects (graphics, diagrams, presentations).


Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Rhino (required).

  • Background in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Game Design, or related field.

  • 1–2 years of experience, including internships.

  • Portfolio showing playful, experimental, or friendly design work.

  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.

  • A genuine love for play, games, and designing joyful experiences.


Bonus Skills

  • Experience teaching, facilitating workshops, or organizing clubs/community events.


Ideal Candidate

You might be in graduate school or recently graduated, with a strong design foundation and a playful outlook. You thrive in Rhino, enjoy bringing ideas to life visually, and want to grow as part of a small, creative team redefining placemaking.
