About Gravity Sketch

Gravity Sketch is a London-based startup that is shaking up the 3D design space and transforming the future of digital creation. We’re revolutionizing how teams within the likes of Ford and Reebok are developing the products of the future. Backed by high profile VCs and investors from Silicon Valley, London and Tokyo, we are developing the first enterprise-grade immersive 3D design and collaboration software which allows designers, engineers, and other stakeholders to create remotely together, in real-time, across multiple devices and platforms. We aim to transform the future of digital creation through disrupting the current design and engineering workflows, placing the user at the center of the creation process. Our product is used by thousands of designers in industries such as automotive, apparel and film, across North America, Europe, and Asia.

Responsibilities

This role will form part of our design team, as well as working closely with our senior engineers and mathematicians. You will be delving deep into our product on a daily basis and exploring it in depth. This will involve interacting with our users and Customer Success team to understand our customers, the software, and the vision of Gravity Sketch. You will be designing interactions for 3D geometry creation and manipulation. Improving existing UX to help drive the development of the product will also be a core part of the role ownership. There will be a lot of autonomy and scope to really make the role your own. It would best suit a resourceful, versatile and self driven individual who isn't afraid to explore areas outside of their ‘job spec’!

Responsibilities will include:

  • Gather research on our users & customer base to understand the root cause of their need and how we can solve their problems in a “Gravity Sketch” way. This will involve digging into our user data across multiple platforms (e.g. social media, Discord, etc), organising user interviews, and logging the feedback from the research in an organised way.

  • Socialise these customer insight internally and bring them into discussions with the product team to come up with briefs to solve problems

  • Identify the low hanging fruit which can be tackled straight away, but keep an eye out on longer term strategic direction

  • Conduct user testing on new features and prototypes, and bring these insights into discussions around what works/doesn’t work, and how to continuously improve our product and features

  • Learn software such as Unity in order to enhance your prototyping abilities, in order to be able to run quick iterations of product discovery and proof of concept developments

  • Exploring other software that our users are interacting with, to benchmark and analyse

Requirements

  • Track record working in UX/interaction design, creating digital tools

  • Experience using CAD, or other modelling software

  • Have a genuine interest to delve deep into our product, to the extent of using it daily and having a natural curiosity to explore it further

  • Comfort with launching quickly to learn and iterate based on user feedback

  • Experience working with other designers and engineers to be able to respect the constraints of each team in design briefs

  • A team-player and mediator with a humble, empathetic and can-do attitude and drive to continuously learn

  • Good understanding of rapid product discovery and product development principles

  • First principles thinking: able to consolidate a problem into its essential components and be open minded to non-traditional solutions to problems

  • Able to travel to our London office at least once per month

Benefits

  • Chance to work at a fast growing start-up reimagining the 3D design workflow

  • Real work ownership - you drive your own initiatives

  • Unparalleled learning, if you’re up for the challenge!

  • Great work culture and environment - we work hard but also know how to have fun

  • 25 days paid holiday (+ bank holidays)

  • £1,000 personal budget per year for professional development

  • Enhanced parental leave policy (maternity and paternity)

  • Cyclescheme & Techscheme

  • Regular team building activities like weekly lunches, socials, weekly online personal training sessions
