Industrious - Designer

Our Design & Construction team creates & delivers spaces that elevate the workplace experience. We’re growing our in-house Design Studio and taking on an ever-increasing volume of new build-outs across the U.S. As a Designer at Industrious, your ideas and creative problem-solving will make an impact. As a Designer on our team, you'll create the future of the flexible workplace and build deep knowledge about the operations of a rapidly growing business. We foster a positive and supportive environment. You’ll join a passionate team from diverse design backgrounds and perspectives. This role is based in New York City and reports to a Design Manager. Since you’ll be working on exciting build-outs in every area of the country, this role will entail regular travel.

  • You’ve cultivated internal and external partnerships across every key area of our business including Facilities, Hospitality, and Real Estate.


Here’s How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Independently lead design projects within a predefined scope and budget

  • Develop and maintain project schedules

  • Complete 3D modeling for design intent

  • Draft complete SD and DD drawing packages

  • Develop interior FFE layouts and process and manage FFE orders

  • Coordinate RFIs with local architects/contractors

  • Review and approve project submittals

  • Iterate custom design pieces and oversee prototype fabrication

  • Research new products

  • Lead initiatives which support rapid business growth


Here’s What We’re Looking For

  • 4-8 years of professional experience in interior architecture or a closely related design field

  • Proficient in Revit and/or AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign (Rhino/Grasshopper skills are a plus)

  • Ability to prepare, develop and edit drawings and models

  • Organized, reliable and able to clearly articulate design ideas

  • Ability to thrive by leading a high volume of projects in a fast-paced environment

Erin Pellegrino

Erin Pellegrino is a strategist, educator, and registered architect who believes design is a powerful catalyst for change—a process of engaging with problems, opportunities, hopes, and world-shaping ideas. Through Matter, her design and fabrication studio, she transforms visionary concepts into extraordinary spaces, objects, and experiences that push standards and boundaries.

She is the co-founder of Out of Architecture, a career resource community and talent services agency, and co-author of ‘Out of Architecture: The Value of Architects Beyond Traditional Practice’ (Routledge, 2022). Her commitment to expanding design’s impact extends to academia, where she has taught at Harvard, Cornell, The New School, CUNY, and The New Jersey Institute of Technology. At NJIT she co-leads the design/build program focusing on public interest design.

Her work has earned global recognition, including an Autodesk BuildSpace Fellowship, AIA New England Design Honor Award, Core77 Design Award in Built Environment, two Architizer A-plus awards, a Paul M. Heffernan International Fellowship, and a nomination for the EU Mies Van der Rohe Award. She holds an M.Arch II from Harvard Graduate School of Design, a B.Arch from Cornell University, and an MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology.
