The Architecture Exit Report
Where architects, engineers, and designers actually go after practice — measured from every role posted to our job board since 2018. Most career advice for architects is anecdote. This is the hiring record.
Data as of August 7, 2026 · 2,157 listings · 1,213 employers
Remote work has been quietly disappearing
Remote-eligible roles peaked at 38% in 2022 and fell to 16% by 2025. If you left practice expecting remote work to stay on the table, the market moved underneath you.

What architects get hired to do
Every listing sorted by discipline. Treat these as floors, not totals: 87% of titles are specific enough to classify, and the rest count only toward the archive total.

Method
Every figure is computed directly from the 2,157 roles posted to the Out of Architecture job board between 2018 and today, and updates automatically as roles are added or close. Disciplines are assigned from job titles, so a listing whose title carries no discipline signal is counted in the totals but not in any discipline. Years still accruing listings are reported separately. Percentages cover completed years only.
